Barbican conservatory

The Barbican conservatory is the second largest conservatory in London (after Kew Gardens) and is located on the 3rd floor of the Barbican centre.

It houses more than 2000 species of plants and trees, as well as terrapins and koi carp.

Visitors usually have to book a free in advance as there are often events inside. It's worth a visit, and the greenery against the brutalist architecture is Instagram worthy.

There's also a bar for when you've finished exploring and since it's within the Barbican centre there are plenty of other shows, exhibitions, cafes and even a library to visit.

Before you go: The entrance to the conservatory and ticket/bag checks are on level 3 of the Barbican centre. Large items including luggage, prams and buggies are not permitted inside the conservatory (The walkways are elevated and narrow). With the exception of guide dogs, dogs are not permitted.

You can get to Barbican station using Circle, Hammersmith & City, metropolitan lines. You can also walk from Old Street (10-15 mins walk)
